Our journey began in the nineties working on German-speaking markets, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where we established a reputation for uncompromising quality. Operating primarily through a distributor network, our standard stair solutions met the rigorous demands of these markets. During this decade, custom spiral stairs crafted from powder-coated steel and solid wood emerged as our top-selling products.
2000: Architectural Collaboration & Global Expansion
We evolved our business model by partnering directly with interior designers and architects to deliver customized solutions with a heightened focus on luxury materials. This shift fueled our expansion into top international markets, including Scandinavia, the UK, the Caribbean, and the USA. We expanded our portfolio by introducing structural stainless steel staircases, significantly elevating our high-end product range.
2005–2010: Innovation, Brand Launch & Floating & Glass Stairs Development
We embraced new strategic challenges by bringing high-grade stairs to emerging markets across North Africa (Algeria, Morocco), the Middle East (Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia), and beyond.
Simultaneously, we established our main business in London, which became the hub for developing glass and floating stairs designs. While many competitors shifted manufacturing to cheaper alternatives in Eastern countries and China, we doubled down on our commitment to uncompromised quality and design. We collaborated exclusively with top engineers, designers, and staircase experts in Italy and Spain.
During this period, we launched our direct-to-consumer brand, Grand Design Stairs, allowing homeowners to work with us directly. We also pioneered advanced technical features, including structural glass components, glass railings, glass treads, and integrated LED lighting systems.
